Mohamed Salah is certain of being fit to face Uruguay in Egypt's opening World Cup match on Friday.

The star, who has been put aside by a shoulder injury sustained in the Champions League final, gave the promising update in a farewell event hosted by Egypt president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

The scale of Salah's involvement was uncertain since he left the pitch in tears in Kiev in two weeks ago, a moment he termed as the worst of his career.

But speaking prior to the team's departure for Russia, Salah spoke positively of his chances of lining up in Yekaterinburg.

"I promise you, I will do my best to be ready for the World Cup and to achieve the Egyptian dream," the forward said as he addressed El-Sisi.

"I feel much better now and I'll be ready to play against Uruguay.

"I will never give up on our dream. I promise to do my best for our people."

Fekir's Move To Liverpool was unsuccessful

Lyon have confirmed that Nabil Fekir will stay at the club next season after the negotiations failed with Liverpool.

Jean-Michel Aulas ( Lyon President ) insisted this week that Fekir's future would be decided after the World Cup, but the French club have since stated he will be playing in Ligue 1 next season, as a breakdown spiked a deal.

"Olympique Lyonnais informs that the negotiations with Liverpool and Nabil Fekir for the transfer of the captain of OL have not succeeded and that Olympique Lyonnais has decided to put an end to negotiations tonight at 20:00," a statement read.

The change is thought to have centred around the 24-year-old's medical, as the clubs had reached an agreement for him the previous day. The Lyon captain suffered a knee injury in February which kept him out for six weeks and may have caused doubt.
