Mascherano Denies  Player Revolt Against Sampaoli

Javier Mascherano has denied rumours that the Argentina squad had moved to depose coach Jorge Sampaoli from his position ahead of a crucial World Cup match. According to the reports, the boss would be left in nominal charge but will be stripped of all tactical and selection decisions, with the squad in charge of picking the starting line-up against Nigeria.

Nigeria is likely to make it out of Group D into the next round. The team has their destiny in their own hands. If Nigeria beat Argentina, Argentina is OUT while Nigeria is IN. If Argentina beat Nigeria, Nigeria is OUT, Argentina is IN if Croatia beats Iceland or Iceland beats Croatia with a smaller margin than Argentina's win. If Iceland lose to Croatia, Iceland is OUT.
